Sunrise Residential Care provides a long-term home for more than 80 children who cannot live safely with their families. Placement is always a last resort.

Safety and recovery

Healing starts on day one

Most children arrive after orphaning, abandonment, trafficking or abuse. Our approach combines trauma-informed intake, one-on-one counselling, and ongoing mental-health support from trained on-site staff.

CounsellingOne-on-one professional counselling and ongoing group therapy, delivered by trained staff using a trauma-informed approach.
HealthcareRegular medical and dental check-ups on-site, along with vaccinations and 24-hour access to emergency care.
24/7 on-site careAll caregiving staff are trained in trauma-informed practice and are present around the clock, every day of the year.

A family-style home

Routines, meals and relationships

Children live in family-style homes with consistent house parents who act as mentors. Daily life is structured around meals, schooling, play and cultural connection.

Three meals a dayBalanced meals and daily healthy snacks, planned to support both physical growth and general wellbeing.
Khmer schoolingFormal education supplemented by Learning Centre classes in English, computing, creative arts and life skills.
Cultural connectionTraditional Khmer dance, music, history and language taught regularly to maintain identity and cultural roots.

Transition to independence

Independence, not dependence

As children grow, the program shifts toward practical life skills, computing, budgeting and cooking. Support continues beyond 18. Where it becomes safe, we work toward family reunification.

Life skillsTraining in budgeting, cooking, hygiene and practical skills to prepare children for independent living after Sunrise.
Sports and recreationStructured daily sports programs alongside supervised free play, covering team and individual activities.
Trips and reunionsAnnual excursions, cultural celebrations and alumni reunion events that build connection beyond daily routines.
