More than just sport

Confidence, discipline and belonging

The sports program is designed to build more than physical fitness. Children who have often faced exclusion or hardship learn teamwork, leadership and perseverance through regular participation. These activities teach the value of showing up, working together and competing fairly.

  • Self-esteemStructured sport gives children a sense of achievement and belonging within a team.
  • LeadershipOlder students take on coaching and mentoring roles for younger participants.
  • InclusionPrograms are adapted so every child can participate regardless of ability or experience.

Full Circle

From Sunrise to the National Stage

“Tennis gave me discipline, confidence and a direction. Sunrise gave me the opportunity to find it. Now I get to pass that on to the next generation of players.”

Sothoeun

Sunrise Alumni, Tennis Coach

Where is Sothoeun now?

Sothoeun grew up at Sunrise and went on to win two gold medals at the Cambodian National Tennis Championship, taking top honours in both singles and doubles.

He is now a successful tennis coach, teaching Cambodia’s next generation of star tennis players. His journey from Sunrise to the national stage is one of the clearest examples of what the sports program can achieve.
